Hi
I am having problems with both cats, the second ones about half way down the car. The noise they make is ruining my top down motoring.
I have read severall threads that seem to confirm the cats can be removed or opened and the internals removed........
I would love to hear from someone who has actually completed this job and assertain if it is possible, will the car pass an MOT, and does the mixture become affected?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Any car built (i think) after Agust 1992 has to have a cat. You can get sports cats, failing that you could cheat & have it removed but it has to go back on for the MOT. Just don't get caught.

Hi
I was hoping I could remove the internals and reweld the boxes. I am not sure how this effects the emission.
Thanks for your help

I removed the lower CATs by cutting open and welding shut on the V6 it was fine for the emissions.

At least 2 other people here have done the same, just slice them open with an angle grinder

Thank you Malcolm
I am talking to my local welding expert to get an idea when he can start. I am fed up with the trade telling me it is ilegal, I realise this but so is doing 34 MPH in a 30 limit. I I really dont want to pay dealler prices. They can get rich without me.
I will let you know how the conversion fares.

My normal garage did mine just cut a hole on three sides and bend it down, the metal is quite thick and welds up easily, you can sell the old CATs ceramics
