Diesel 124 Coupe

I am looking at buying a 320 coupe but doing 20,000 miles pa may make it an expensive proposition.
I have seen LPG conversions advertised but i wonder if it would be possible to swap engines with a 124 diesel of similar age.
Or is it just so problematic that its not worthwhile?
If not does anyone have experience of lpg conversions?

i have a 230ce with an LPG conversion for the same reason as you.. i do 30,000 miles PA and mine does the equivelent of 50-60 mpg driving at 70-90mph. The only thing i have to do is not drive it hard when cold on LPG.. ie. no foot to the floor getaways out of junctions because my LPG specialist said its bad for it.. can do on petrol as normal. when warmed up you can treat it the same as petrol. But the super cheap running costs make such a difference. Im probably selling mine to buy an LPG 210 e-class

How much does it cost to convert? from petrol to LPG?

aprox £1500 for 4cyl, £1800 for 6cyl and £2000 for an 8cyl.... these are quotes from a place near me in exeter

I heard that the Government or a company help out when converting is this true? As your converting to a green friendly thing.
