I have a 1993 W124 coupe, body is excellent as is the transmission / running gear. Is it possible to put a non-turbo (Merc) diesel engine in this car, keeping the existing automatic gearbox? Aim would be to run it on straight veg oil.

Yes it has been done, member Brian popped one in his 129 with the 124 its easier as they made a diesel version, and any bits plenty full from breakers

A sight easier to simply LPG convert the existing set up, keep the delightful present engine (not destigned for tractor use) and the driving pleasure that brings whilst bringing fuel cost down to 66ppl.
