I have an E250TD (W124 estate 1989). On turning on the ignition to warm the glow plugs, but before turning over the engine, a loud hum has developed over recent weeks. This hum comes from behind the dash - middle to passenger side by the sound of it. I assume the glow plug control unit is in the engine bay on the left wing and is not causing the hum. Does anybody know if I have a problem developing, perahps another component about to go, or is this a cold weather thing? many thanks for any thoughts.
