I keep reading about many other marques diesel models with failing dual mass flywheels.

I haven't seen any mention of it on here so am I right to assume that Mercedes diesel engines are the only ones that don't fail / have them fitted?

My next Merecedes will be a diesel so just for my general interest.

Sorry for the delay in replying - just got in from work and first chance I have had to log in...

Many later Mercedes diesels are fitted with dual mass flywheels, but obviously only those fitted with a manual gearbox. I would assume that the failure rate is probably similar to other marques, but in my experience Mercedes with manual gearboxes are rarer than auto's, where as other marques tend to be manual more of the time. Perhaps this is why you don't hear so much about it in the Merc camp...
