Just had a new Bosch oil filter arrive and I still had an MB one in the garage . I was amazed at how similar they are , maybe from the same factory ?
The MB boxed one also has a Mann brand on it .

Bosch and Mann invested in a joint venture in 2006 and bought Purolator. Mann then bought out Bosch's 50% share in 2012. All sorts of things go on behind the scenes with people making for each other or sharing technology / using the same manufacturing equipment /designs etc.,

Was there a big price difference? The MB one for the SL is about £11.

VW Scirocco, (current toy). The Quattro, E350 CDi Sport Coupe, now both gone.
This is why I find it amusing and irritating in equal measure when folk bang on about “Oh, I must have O.E. stuff on my car”.
The parts are often made by the same manufacturer and just relabelled, Wighty’s observation/discovery just re-enforces and/or proves the point. Meanwhile MB and others of their ilk continue to make fortunes out of the poor unaware owners.

When they are made by the same manufacturer all's good, when they're made to a lesser spec then not so much... difficult to tell the difference though especially when the sellers use a stock photo of the item

The only thing MB make is Money, all the cars are assembled from parts available from suppliers, there is little bespoke suspension / brake / consumables wise
