I recently posted i had an on going issue with my engine management light coming on every 1kmls, and car not doing re gen, merc specalist checked my E220 CDI AMG 2011 plate over & diagnosed a crack on the inlet manifold, has anyone heard of this before.

Iv had a broken broken bolt on the inlet manifold in the past. Apparently it's common. In my case bolt needed drilling out and a new inlet manifold.

Yes, quite common at that age point. It’ll almost certainly be the second bolt in from the front on the bottom row

Thanks, the garage is saying due to a crack on the inlet manifold it causes a vacume hence why the car DPF wont re gen also it wont reach heat level! Just hope there correct, dont want to buy the inlet manifold and there wrong.

Ask them if they have a smoke machine to confirm their diagnosis

clarify with them that if it's the wrong diagnosis you'll pay only the spare part and not the job. And you'd be even too kind. They must do an accurate diagnosis before doing such a job. Anyway I remember of a youtuber who diagnosed this with a step by step explanation on a w204 c220 cdi, try searching through the trouble code on youtube

P.S.: if he calls himself Merc specialist, he shouldn't have doubts about the issue

Ask them if they have a smoke machine to confirm their diagnosis

They said they did a pressure test which identified it. Its a big ticket number supplied & fitted, just need it fixed but dont want ripped off.

You can fairly reliably confirm it yourself. With a torch you can look down behind the oil filter housing. There is a ribbed aluminium oil cooler down there bolted to the side of the engine block. It should be bright and shiny. If it’s black and covered with oil the intake manifold is leaking

Grangemouth Mercedes. You can get discount aswell for being a member here. I'd expect to be paying around the 300 mark for a new manifold
