E class w212 stuck in P column shift

The irony here is that what's it's cost in guessing which part could likely have paid for a diagnostic reader.
An Autel AP200 costs naff all and is ok as a basic reader (has its glitches so not perfect but still worth having).

I keep one in the car as a just in case.

Bosch sensor, £20. Genuine MB sensor, £145 (my 251 just went through this…)

thought id posted update...
I replaced the steering column module and indicators etc..all part of the same thing and everything started working again so it turned out to be bad ..took a while to check as expensive part through Mercedes,managed to pick up used one from ebay

used Bosch sensor on wheel and worked perfectly well and is still working two years later
