E200 auto box

I have a 1998 E200 saloon with a 5 speed auto box,can anyone tell me if this gear box is fitted with an oil cooler as standard and if not how do i go about getting one fitted?many thanks.P.S.im thinking of towing a caravan occasionally with my car thats why i want to know about gear box oil coolers.

You'll find that the main radiator of your car is actually split into two sections, the upper main section is dedicated to engine cooling whereas the lower minor section is used to cool the auto gearbox oil. I thought all auto boxes were like this, certainly the ones that I have owned were.

thanks for your reply steve,i,ve never heard of the radiator split in to two parts,one part for the engine and one part for the gearbox before,think or everything these germans,thanks again.

oil cooler

Hi

Steve is quite correct about the cooler in the rad but depending upon the wieght being towed the is a kit recomended and avialable via MB
