I just got E220 CDI Y2000. Mileage is only 39000KM. Problem is with the exhaust odor, specially when I start the car, the smoke comes out from the muffler for 5 seconds and than odor, which is literally unbearable.
Is there any way to get rid of that smell, either by putting new oil filter, fuel filter etc.

Thanks

All diesels produce the smell you describe, however, you may want to run some diesel injector cleaner through the fuel system, as your car maybe smoking more than it should due to a clogged injector.

Just put some in with your next tank full of fuel.

Newer diesels have that smell, presume its because of the CAT. Mine has it and I often get it from other models. No harm. But I don't get any smoke, 88k on car. How are your glow plugs?

I guess, I'll have to live with that smell. I'll take your advice and put the injector clearner on my next fill. That might take care of the smoke.

Thanks
