Mine is the W210 model. 80k miles, 5 yrs old.
After some thought I (still) booked in to my MB dealer for a B service. They reported a fuel leak and asked to change the fuel pipes.
Straight away on collecting the car it felt lumpy at idle and it did seem economy was not as it had been. First serious use after school hols and the engine bay is filling with diesel. I come home after work and the garage smells like an oil refinery. Crikey!
Straight back to MB this morning and it appears the alternator (do everything) belt has chaffed through the small white plastic pipe which runs quite close. Erm, wtf?
So they are remedying now. I'll let you know how it goes but apart from some sort of compensation, if there's anything I should insist they fix I'd be grateful for pointers.
A lot of fuel had haemorrhaged, hmmm.
