E230 automatic transmission

Hi all,
I plan to buy a used E230 1996/97 with automatic transmission. I've noticed two E230 both are 1996 model but with different automatic transmission, one with D,3,2 gears and another with D,3,2,1 gears. What different does it make? Any advice?

Hi

I think you may find they have different transmissions fitted. One with an hydraulic box & the other with the electronic box. If you look to the side of the gear leaver. There is a switch. It will either say ES or WS. ES=Hydraulic box.
