Hi, i have got a knackered cat on my e240 (2001) ive ordered a replacement for it - http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/three-year-catalytic-converter.php?recordID=947

I will be installing it myself, does anyone know if i should be oredering up some gaskets for it? cant really see without removing the old one. If so is it a merc only part or can i get them from anywhere else?

Also obviously ill have to remove the lambda and put it back into the new cat section, does the lambda probe have any sort of gasket etc that i would also need to replace?

Thirdly (sorry i know only my 1st post, so many questions) i noticed on my new cat section there appears to be 2 lambda probe type bosses welded in, about a foot or so apart - what the other one for? i should be able to see once i get it up on the ramp but would like to check before then. The two bosses can just about be seen in the picture in the link above, just before and after the left hand box on the top pic.

Many thanks for any help.
Craig.

I think that the lambada is higher up in the down pipe, but I could be wrong.

Since the Lambada can be responsable for the failure of the CAT, it must be worth fitting a new one, I used my existing gaskits, they were fine on a 1999 car.

malcolm, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome, hmm one of them is definately for the lambda, ill have a closer look tonight. No need to replace a lambda unless theres a problem with it, they arnt cheap.
Ok so there is some kind of gaskets, ill get them, id rather that than the chance of a leak when its all back together.
Thanks.
