E240 w210 (2001) fuel filter location?

Hi, could anybody point me towards this please? I had a good look around the engine bay but couldnt see one. Im guessing its at the back somewhere near the fuel tank? Also ive seen listed both fuel filter and pre filter, are they both together or is the pre filter inside the tank? Many thanks for any help.

So the pre filter/strainer is indeed inside the tank, ill leave that one then. Do you think i need to remove the wheel or is it just in that area but no wheel removal needed? Ill have a look tomorow, cold and dark out there just now

Its easier with the wheel off,, you will see what side by the removable cover, do take notice of the arrow on the filter, and do it with a near empty tank and the car jacked and supported

It looks to me that this is located in front of the n/s/r wheel. Take a look for that shaped cover in Malcolms link.
