Hi Folks,

I have a small issue with my 2003 E270. Sometimes after I have been out for a drive, when I park up the car and go to turn the fob to switch off, the engine runs on for about 10 seconds then stops. It doesn't happen all the time and for many weeks. I did ask my local Mercedes specialist and they said if it isn't happening all ther time then should be ok. The issue started when I had the front SAM unit replaced with a reconditioned one. Even then I was told that they are usually plug in and play. The mechanic that sourced one for my took the VIN to make sure he got the right one and no other issues. Is there something I could look for like where the location of a fuel shut off solenoid to check connection? Any advice will be welcome.

Thanks

......if it isn't happening all ther time then should be ok.

Thats lame to be honest...

Does/was the SAM programmed to your vin. Seems too much a coincidence the timing.

Turn key to off, engine off immediately always.... you know it makes sense.

Agree 100% with @mioba
Being able to kill the engine instantly us a safety thing. Imagine if it stuck on full throttle and you had wait 10 seconds to shut it off?

Whoever told you it was 'OK' was being very lazy.

Thanks guys I'm going to speak to the local Merc specialist again I have read that the Sam units, the front ones just need to have the correct and relays and fuses are in same position as the one being replaced. Which I can see is the case. And at least I have whole set for spare fuses and relays. It's not happened for a a while. So l'm going through the Haynes manual and having a look my self.
