Thanks for previous suggestions on poor starting and lumpy tickover, when in drive. In spite of shelling out £4,500 for a Crewe remanufactured engine after a serious boil, I still want to spend more on this lovely beast which is pristine after 100k. I had lpg in a previous BMW525i and I want to gas the E280. I do 22,000 a year so the payback would come quite quickly. Does anyone have experience of lpg in a 280? All advice welcome.[/b]

I also own an e280 and would also be interested to hear of anybody who has successfully converted their cars to run on LPG........I would also be interested to know which installer they used and whether it was a straight forward fit, or whether it was a case of endless fiddling to get the car to run correctly.

Cheers

Martin

Before you decide consult your insurance company. Mine (Hastings Direct) would'nt even insure a converted car and most other companys seemed to quote me high. Also you can't take a LPG converted car on the Euro-tunnel.

I note Andy's dire warning. As a newcomer to the site, I have not found my way to archived items. Has Andy expanded on his warning somewhere? I had an elderly BMW 525i with lpg and it went beautifully.
Do Mercs have a particular aversion to gas? :?:
