Hi,

I have just bought a 1995 E300 diesel. Driving the car home I noticed at around 58-65 MPH a slight surging much like a lighter car into a headwind. It does not happen at higher speeds, only at constant throttle. Is this normal for these cars?

Many thanks

Phil.

I know nothing about MB yet but a lot of newer design diesels have catlytic converters and in some cases, have a lambda sensor. Failing lambda sensors give a surging effect - it's a classic symptom. Another thought would be the air-mass meter (assuming it uses one). This failed on my diesel Vectra giving a strong surging symptom.
