Hi,
Car is a 2007 s211 e320 CDI with Euro4 specs.
No EML no limp mode but my icarsoft was reading an engine fault in regards to the lambda oxygen sensor.
Message of fault was the "G3/2 O2 sensor upstream of Cat" .

In reality, the car has only one lambda sensor and is downstream of the catalyst.

It took me a lot of search to find an upstream lambda sensor and since I wasn't able to find it myself went to a garage to lift the car up for a better view and thorough search.
We confirmed that this car has just one oxygen sensor and is located downstream of the cat.
I just drop this info here for a future reference for someone in same position as I was.
After the replacement the message of the fault was "historic" so I cleared it up.
Thanks.

they drive the same after it fails around the 11 to 15 year mark. fit a new one, parts of the emission systems will be happier (as one would hope is the planet) £100 and 30 to fit

in not very long o'clock

the exhaust pressure sensors will die that will limp and throw a light £55 fit yourself
the swirl flap motor will die under the strain of coked up secondary inlet ports (try water meth idea in the lnlet manifold) and buy a 10p metal film resistor across the two centre pins that will no limp but with now boost will be flat as hell, 10p and some methanol
the EGR might fail, if it comes out clean it £2 for a can of oven cleaner

a new set of glow plugs and their control module would be another service item it needs £120 in parts and £120 to fit
plus a fuel filter £10
if its on 140k and had a hard life injector seals...
unless copious oil loss leave the seals on the oil cooler to weep like they designed it (8 to10 hours of hell)

Believe it or not I spent time in here looking for om642 oxygen sensor or lambda sensor and couldn't find something for e320cdi.
Of course I was doing it wrong apparently. Maybe was searching based on upstream message..

Thanks for all this info, really appreciate it.
Bought the car in October when I sold my cls500 (to pay for my new Howdens kitchen).
First things I did within first week were oil+filter change, air filters, fuel filter, cabin filter, crankcase breather and a refurbished turbo actuator (with a core change so I saved some money). Then I replaced two front parking sensors and very recently two rear ones.
Last week I removed the egr and cleaned it, wasn't that bad. I also removed the front pipe that goes to the egr which was almost blocked. And in parallel I replaced the turbo o-rings.
Now only thing left are the glow plugs. I am thinking to replace these myself too although I have read online that they might stuck. Any suggestions or tricks?
Thank you and apologies for the long message
