Just changed my thermostat on my 2001 e320 cdi. Talk about a PITA. Every other thermostat change on any of my cars was a 5 minute job. This one however has run into problems. The first issue I had was breaking the plastic t-piece on one of the fuel lines that runs along the top of the thermostat housing. Luckily the MB dealewr had one in stock and I changed it today. Got it fitted and restarted the car. Let it idle whilst I checked for leraks etc. Then it cut out and I've not been able to start it again... I'm waiting on the battery charging.
I think I may have air trapped in the lines or maybe in the fuel pump. Is there a procedure for this or have I overlooked anything? The fuel line that I changed was the one that terminates on the top of the engine and has a plastic fitting that looks it may be a pressure relief valve.
