Intermittently my 02 E320 CDi does not start. The AA man got it going by spraying Easy Start down the air inlet. He reckons it's a fuel pressure sensor. Any thoughts? Is this a job I can do (competent amateur), or do I need to get it on the computer at my indie workshop?

If the AA man got it going by spraying in the inlet, and the car ran, would not this just be an air problem with air in the system

Also a injector leak off test wouldnt go a miss, thats the more common fault!!

did it start later without the easy start?

A comon problemwith commn rail engines is one injector down, ie leaking, then thereis insufficient railpressure.

so it could be

1 leaky injector, suggested by another poster
2 pressure sensor aa man
3 pump not producingsufficient pressure
4 air leak leading to 3

good luck in the hunt.

ps DAF fitters use wd 40 rather than easy start, has less "knock" to it

You shouldnt spray anything in there!! it has been known before to bend a rod doing that, its a quick fix for mr AA man!
