Hello!

I'm torn between buying a E320 coupe (w124) or an older 500 or 560 SEC.

I'd be interested to hear forum member's opinions on which car is ... 'better'

TIA,

Jim

Both are great, but the SECs are more complex and rarer, hence will be a lot more expensive to maintain. Plus, they are gas guzzling big V8's so you should be on great terms with your local filling station.
Wonderful cars though. I've often thought about buying one and minting it instead of buying the newer stuff.

When someone post a picture of a nice 126 I always fancy one, just to have one :D

Good choices, My dad has a mint 95 320CE Coupe and I have a 95 CL500 coupe, W140. The older SEC W126 I think is a nice car but finding one that doesnt need a complete body restoration will be hard.

The 320CE Coupe to me is a nice car but lacking the refinement of the CL500, but that could be because Ive been spoilt with the CL.

I like my dads CE a lot and think its a great looking car and I think in the future it will be a desirable classic and good examples will only go up in value.

The CL is something else. It has everything, road presence is massive, people will look at it because there are very few on thr road. A good CL will be about the same price as a good CE, THE CL's I think will still come down in value but in the future they will go up again as they become rarer.

Its chalk and chees, best thing to do is test drive both and compare, if you want pics of a CL see below.

Thanks for the replies.

Are the 500/560 SEC's considered more reliable than the W124s?

When it comes to everyday running costs, I was thinking of converting to LPG...
