Guys my e320cdi became really sluggish the last couple of months. Though it was the MAF so changed it but to no avail. In the end had to to a garage with diagnostics. They said that they couldnt contact either engine or gearbox ecus and when they opened them up they were filled with oil. Allegedly took almost a pint of gear oil out! Ive been told that the oild has wicked it way from the gearbox up the cables, and they say it has to go to mercedes for repair. Has anyone had anything similar? If so what are my options? and what costs are expected?

No - you don't need a dealer, but you do need a proper MB specialist. Say where you are and someone will recommend one.
I'm not an expert but as I understand it,
You will need a new gearbox to ECU loom. Dn't know how much they are but I wouldn't be too worried. The seal on the gearbox is cheap enough afaik - the dealer did mine a few weeks ago whilst they changed the gearbox oil.
The biggie is the ECU.
They will tell you it needs replacing for £1400+.
As I understand it, cobblers.
Malcolm (television) will be able to comment better as I believe he did a test and found that the oil does not damage the components. It will need stripping down and cleaning but thats about it.
