Reach down if you can and get hold of the starter solenoid connection , don’t pull it off but wiggle it around / and also try to push the wire into the plug and then see if the engine will start.
My Jeep with the om642 ( grand Cherokee 3.0crd ) mines a 2006…. but all the 05-10 diesel models suffer from the same problem which is the solenoid wire connection is not crimped securely enough inside the plug from the factory.

This may not be your problem but 90% of diesel grand Cherokee’s eventually suffer from this problem leading to just the relay clicking and no starter operation.
Access to the plug is probably going to be harder than on my Jeep which has more room and no air filters down each side of engine. , so if you can reach it just be careful not to fully pull it off as you may end up taking under trays and all sorts off to get access to get it back on
