E350 - whistle sound on cold start

I've only been taking the car for a drive in the late afternoon, it's the first start of the day and I've noticed a whistle, doesn't sound like a belt.

It's after a gentle 200m drive down the street to the junction.

After the car has been parked up for an hour while I do some shopping or go for a walk the sound isn't there. Only the following afternoon when I start the car for the first time.

Is this a know issue? Read something about a breather fan running at startup until some other component gets up to speed.

Yes, engine is smooth, no turbo like sounds when pushed either.

Will try and book it in with an Mercedes specialist for next week. Tried calling today when I had a few mins free from work but no answer.

some cars do have small pumps for various things that come & off randomly , pretty sure if it wasn't normal it would bring the EML on

My slk did this.
Secondary air pump. Its emissions bollox from cold start.
I took it it off and found carbon dust build up inside it from the motor brushes.
Gave it a thorough clean and reassembled and refitted.
Sorted.

Sounds like a gasket leaking or a seal .Only whistling i had on a Mercedes was on my W124 it was the exahust manifold gasket >only when cold <..

Just been out for a quick drive and walk before it gets too hot and the paths gets crowded.

After further listening it could be a belt noise and the sounds. When stopped near a wall I could still just about hear it, so it doesn't completely go away.

The car still has 5 months warranty remaining which was included when I bought the car. I'll try and get the car booked in and hopefully if is an issue it'll be a part covered under the warranty.

If it stays after cold start, that sounds like a pulley bearing.

Spray belt with a spray of water . Dont drowned it just mist it .

Alternators can whistle when working hard to replace current used starting. Usually only lasts for a few minutes.

I have a whistle issue too,,,when I turn the key, and it start's up, there is a whistle noise for a few seconds, then it's gone. I've had some one stand outside the car, with the bonnet raised, and they cannot hear anything out of the ordinary,,but I can definitely hear it while sitting inside. Anyone else experience this problem?
