I have the 2011 E350CDI, brilliant engine & very few faults reported on here.
Surprisingly economic & mine is a 7 speed.
Have a look at road tax rates particularly Apr16-Apr17, cheaper than before & after these dates.

A six cylinder mercedes turbodiesel is a wondrous thing, smooth and torquey, and not too disastrous on the economy. Possibly more expense and complexity when things go wrong, but definitely worth the risk IMHO.

It's official 51mph is the Daddy for mpg .

I've never driven a 350 CDI and would welcome the opportunity .

However I have driven a C 63 , seats aside , what a beast..

However the 18 mpg and the opportunity to use it's great legs fails me .

I never cease to be amazed at the mpgs that you E350cdi coupe guys post. We have only two or three times got signficantly over 40mpg in our estate in 5 years. Much heavier vehicle, of course...

Know what you mean Gary, however I did once see 50 mpg at one point,

The only main problem with the OM642 engine is the oil cooler seals. The oil cooler sits in the 'V' at the top of the engine, which bakes the seals. It also makes it a time consuming job so is the best part of £800 for replacement of those £5 seals at an independent specialist. Later engines (2012ish) have ' upgraded' purple viton seals, although I think the consensus is starting to point towards these needing changing as well, but they just at longer intervals.

It leads to oil leaks all over the engine, going from minor to terrible very quickly. If you could find an E350 that has already had this job done it would be piece of mind.

Our W212 estate has averaged (according to the display) 32mpg over the last 30,000 miles. This includes perhaps 2-3000 miles towing a caravan when it's more like 22-23mpg. It does quite a bit of local driving too, which is usually 29-31mpg. My other half does some longer trips to see my mother-in-law but probably uses the (GAD) performance more than I do...
I'm not complaining, however. It is worth the expense. I am just a little jealous of the people with better figures!

Average speed suggests the reading was all open motorway or the like. I think if I included getting to and from the motorway, there is no way I would ever get remotely near that figure. Never tried zeroing the trip just for the cruising part...

Went for a C350, only took 3 months to find a good one! I avoided one really dodgy one by using carguide that had salvage damage! You should have seen the mess before it was repaired. The MOT history stacked up though so all good. Currently getting 43mpg.

You do know you can check MOT history for free directly with the DVLA. Do you have any connection with carguide?

S500 (W222) 2014. Turbo 4.7 V8 with loads of toys. Superfast luxury.
Hi all,

I'm new on here so go easy!

Looking at a 2012 coupe of the above but can't see any benefit of the 350 over the 250? Anyone looked at both?

Thanks!
If mileage is not high go petrol. An E500 will feel like a sports coupe should and put a real smile on your face.
