Yes Renault do that.I did notice that some EV's have a lease contract on the batteries, so you own the car, but have to lease the batteries (i think thats how it worked) so if they depleted, you could get new ones. Think i saw it was £200 a year, which wipes out the savings on road tax.
Please correct me if i am wrong
That’s the problem… charging too much…Battery power tools are a boon in lots of construction applications and have improved greatly over the last 10 years, but they are still only suitable for short duration, occasional or light work, It's not a total solution, this is the same problem EV's have. There is also the issue of battery life, I have just had to replace my 2 year old I phone as it was flat by lunchtime pretty much every day despite being on charge for 10 hours every night.
Oh never knew that, I thought the longer you have them on charge the better. That’s the problem… charging too much…
EV’s batteries can also suffer if constantly fast charged
The software was updated to match your regular charging so they don’t overcharge. Still does it though (so they can sell you a new phone…)Oh never knew that, I thought the longer you have them on charge the better.
They used to say It does a battery good to run it flat occasionally and recharge from virtually flat. However modern car electrics won’t tolerate that any moreOh never knew that, I thought the longer you have them on charge the better.
You must have been stuck in the queue…. See post 25Shoppers trapped in car park for 3 hours after Tesla runs out of battery at exit

Yes, but car would be considerably cheaper to the tune of maybe $8-10K. Makes them much more affordable.I did notice that some EV's have a lease contract on the batteries, so you own the car, but have to lease the batteries (i think thats how it worked) so if they depleted, you could get new ones. I knew I'd seen it somewhere before..You must have been stuck in the queue…. See post 25
You make a good point LK but this is a whole transport solution that requires an enormous amount of electricity to power , something this country does not have , we already buy it from europe , there are still places in our country with no broadband so how do they realistically think we can achieve full electrification anytime soon ? They would have to make it against the law for me to even consider an EV , I detest the things and thats not for changingFor those who are anti EV how long ago was it that battery drills were a toy and you had to have a mains one to do any work.
I doubt there is anyone on here who doesn't do 90% of their DIY with battery power tools these days.
Likewise rattle guns. There are more than a few of us with battery rattle guns who use them for undoing wheel nuts and only 5 years ago that would have been unthinkable.
the techs are still in primary school FFS
Is this going to be a need rather than an incidental benefit?EVs are simple things compared to ICE.
Tech's of all flavours struggle with the electrickery on cars now ..... when it's all electric, the car will sit for months in a dealership while heads of depts scratch their heads.
Who was it here that had problem after problem with their electric E Class that nobody seemed to be able to resolve?
