Hello everyone
In december I was driving on M25. My car started slowing me down and stopped me then some white smoke came out of the car.
I had my car taken to Mercedes Benz dealer.
They kept saying things need replacing: pistons, fuel filter, coolant hose, injectors, dpf filter and catalictyc convertor. We agreed with all those repairs and now they say the car needs a new engine.
Can this be fixed??
Thank you

Everything can be fixed, whether you can afford to, it being at a Mercedes dealer is another thing entirely

First thing I'd do us get it out of Mercedes.
Whatever it costs a large portion of the bill will be labour and a decent independent specialist will save you a fortune just in labour charges. Additionally an independent will often repair items MB would just change.
Of course if they've already started the repairs you're pretty snookered as they will want payment for the work to date.

As above get a second opinion preferably from a MB Independent labour charges alone are 50% cheaper if you mention your location someone will be able to recommend an independent garage

How much did thar cost from Mercedes....Surely worth more than the car.

it’s took you a while to post on here.

I would expect what you paid you get off a new engine to go from a coolant hose to Cat is just ludicrous.

which mb dealer is that

I did not post on here as I have only just become aware of the engine issue last week. Covid19 came and lockdown so they said after all the parts needed changing and all will be solved and car will be fixed, then 2 weeks ago I was invited for a meeting to discuss further repairs needed (the engine)

The repairs so far reached a bill of a few thousand pounds

Hi Tina,
You have had so much changed with the dealer I would be kicking down the door of the dealer principle and letting him know his ppl are costing you a fortune and nothigng repaired. I would then be looking at significant from them on the engine, If you go elsewhere now the dealer has made a mint on you.
