The service schedule (which probably referes to all current 'C' class cars) I have for my 2004 'C' class coupe 220cdi includes a reference to a "612.990 engine". This means nothing to me.

I wondered if anyone can enlighten me what this designation is? Does it refer to my 220cdi engine or is it another engine used in the 'C' class range. If it is what is the designation of the engine in my car, or where may I be able to find it.

Thanks

Ken,

Check the back of your service booklet and you will see your engine number. The first six numbers indicate the type of engine you have, the rest is unique to you and identifies your individual engine.
