Please tell me- Can I successfully use synthetic oil in the engine of this car? Up to now Castrol GTX has been used, but I think the last change was made using Shell 10W40 synthetic oil.
An unusual reply, but go to www.difflock.com (a 4x4 site), this site is run by oil specialists, if you enter the technical forum and scroll down to the lubricants section the guys will answer your question. I bought a quantity of oil from them recently to support the site and they went to lengths to give me the quantities required and recommended type of oil for different vehicles (inc my merc) and take into consideration the mileage of vehicle.
Their lubricants are supplied by Ovaline and are of very high quality, end of the day you can take their advise and go get an equivillent from Halfrauds!
