The Starter Motor gave up the ghost on my C180K - just stopped working one day.... I have AA Home Start so within 30 minutes the chap arrived and diagnosed a buggered Starter.
I bought one off Ebay for £16 0dd, with a 90 day guarantee.... Worked fine!

After all your tribulations, I would let somebody else do it.

Imagine having to replace it 4 or 5 times to get it right.

Not too hard though. But your windings are probably burnt out and it's porbbakt not going to be straightforward
