I am experiencing problems where under hard accellaration the engine cuts out, all ignition lights come on and I get a warning message EPC light as well. All I have to do is turn the ignition off and on again and the car returns to normal. It performs perfectly under normal circumstances but I tow a caravan and sometimes a bit more throttle is required and then it can become dangerous. I have not had the car to the dealer as yet but wondered if there was any well known problem which I coud look into myself. regardsAA

I've had the "Triangle" light up - I worked out that it meant I was losing Traction and should modify my driving style

Get the car plugged into a star diagnostic machaine and it will identify the problem

you'll probably get fault codes

for charge pressure control, pedal value sensor, and mass air flow sensor, amongst others.
You can take all these off and clean them up or replace them easily enough. You should check the air filter indicator on the housing. If it's showing red or part red, dismantle the housing and check the filter isn't snafu'd with leaves or mice nests or some other obstruction. Also check that there is nothing loose in the housing that can block the airpath.
don't forget the brake pedal switch. It can be a culprit in this kind of behaviour and is cheap and easy to change.

Similar problem on E270 CDi, but no cutting out completely - yet! Just very sluggish on kickdown and limited top speed.

Any thoughts gratefully received. Booked in at dealer on Monday - they can look at the rust on the tailgate at the same time!
