exhaust welding w203

my exhaust bracket needs a small weld on it on previous cars i would have just diconnected the battery and done the weld however i believe this is not possible on the merc do i need to remove the exhaust thanks in advance

i thought you were not supposed to disconect the power supply on the w203

so your saying no need to disconect the battery just earth from the exhaust

I would pull the plug from the back of the alternator also.
You are supposed to disconnect battery, if you do, remove fat red wire from rear sam before reconnecting. Electronics are sensitive. Keep the key away from ignition at the very least.
That sad I have welded cars after 'forgetting' to disconnect battery, but never on my MB.
If only a small weld on exhaust, which is mostly insulated anyway, do as Cole says and clamp close to weld area.

I thought the battery helps protect from spikes but I admit my knowledge is limited or old that was with a Mig.
Just put earth near to job as said.
