I had a couple of problems with my car and have had for a while , one of them was the anti roll bars being worn and the other was a thud everytime i accelerated and lifted off.
I have been to a couple of Mercedes Specialists in the past, not to do with this issue but just generally. They usually do a fine job but I never get any feedback and I am not sure what they have done.
So I decided to learn more about my car and try to do as much as I can myself. I have changed wings, bumper, fixed segment Led on dash, window regulator, shocks, discs and pads, all filters, spark plugs (nightmare!) , infact I even drilled out 2 wheel bolts that snapped when snet to a garage (huuuuuuuge nightmare, days of work!) and so on.
I have been reluctant to take my car to any one but the problems I had was getting worse and worse , so I decided to check what was around me in Braintree where I work. To my surprise there was one less than 5 mins form where I work (only been working in Braintree for like a year and a half). I decided to give them a go, they immediatley looked very professional, clean garage curtious staff and welcoming waiting area (they almost look like a Merc dealer without the showroom) plus lots of nice Mercs there.
The mechanic came over so I can do a test drive, from the moment I reversed he told me about some problems that he noticed, car was vibrating (I didnt even think that was a problem). He quickly diagnosed both problems, one was anti roll bars (causing thuds when hitting bumps and vibration when reversing) and a more shocking one was a worn engine mount (engine would jump out form one side and drop when I lift off).
We drove the car back, he had the car in the worksop aread and called me after 5 mins showed me both problems, which were exactly what he told me on the test drive.
Basically work invovled 2 engine mounts, 2 anti roll bars and overall 2 hours work. Price was competitive (much less than I thought, £373 for your info is what it was).
I just got the car today and I cannot belive how much of a difference there is in the car and they did it just under 2 hours.
I highly recommend Waterhouse Cars in Braintree. They were professional, clean, concise, honest and competitive.
