Thanks for the advice I was given while looking for a good example of an SEC. I have just driven my 'new' car back to London from Birmingham where I bought it from Wayne Good at WDM motors. He's a Merc Specialist mech of some renown and it was his own car for 2 years. It's an 89 500 SEC with only 38,000 miles!
Blue/black with perfect biscuit leather and not a bit of rust anywhere. Really enjoyed the run down the M40 - a world away from my Defender 90 which I joyfully waved goodbye to today as well.
Spent a bit more than I bugeted but it was th 5th car I had seen and it made me see what a huge difference there is between the ok ones and a really nice one.
Anyway, thanks again all.

Seb.

How was the drive home, did it feel good in an all time great. I think that you have done a wise move buying one that is super condition and a silly milage.

You must put up some pics next to make us all envious.

I saw the car at WDM - I agree that it is incredible condition, hard to imagine that it is 18 years old. If I had spare cash I would have bought it.

Given that it was Waynes own car should give you confidence as he knows Mercedes inside out, and is a real enthusiast.

Well done Seb, smiles per miles aplenty, pics would be good. Just drove my 560sec the other day after a year of idleness:) , still felt good except for the brakes sticking:( .
Not so pleased you sold your Defender, bit of a LR nut me, dont know how as they are worlds apart.

Thanks for the comments, especially Matt, it's good to have someone confirm Wayne's integrity. Not knowing one end of a car from the other, I took the plunge based on Wayne's good character, and so far the car feels better than I had hoped.
Pictures will be forthcoming.

Seb.
