i know its a car forum but do we really have a chance to bring this trophy home, it's sad that anyone under 60 will not recall England winning this trophy.
As opposed to the gentleman's game played with egg shaped balls and without ego?Is this the wussy game with round balls that gets touted about so much in the common press?
Firstly, I'm under 60 and remember 1966 as are loads of us in our 7th decade that are not yet 60, go figure.
Secondly, the title of this thread refers to the overpaid nancy boys of past events who failed to score goals, make tackles, win games. Even the girls tackled, scored goals, won games and last time in Canada came 3rd. Those over paid, useless, selfish nancy boys of the past were more interested in constantly putting their hands up and asking the ref 'Please Miss, can I go wee wee', every time the ball comes within 10 metres of them, let alone an opposition player. Pathetic
Thirdly, it's only a game, not life or death.
The other evening it was a pleasure to drive to Costco with empty roads, empty warehouse. Had a lovely dinner with plenty of space and no queuing for a table. Pleasant return journey. Unpacked and stored away all the goodies. Then watched the penalty. More games please, nightly, would be great to keep folk off the roads
A more relevant, contemporary tagline to reflect the actual achievements of the young bloods is required.
A proper sports event starts on Saturday, that takes precedent in this household. Vive le Tour
I’m just under, don’t remember watching it as such (I’d have been 6), but it was imprinted on me anyway being a Bobby Moore fan when growing up in central Scotland!Although I'm (just) over 60, 3 of my siblings are under 60 and we all watched the '66 final.
Moved!!!!Irrespective of what people think about the overpaid professional footballers in the England team the world Cup is still something that we as a country can achieve so everyone (English anyway) should get behind the team and cheer them on for England.
BTW....this thread needs moving as it is not Mercedes related.
I can remember watching it at my granddad's.
All the chairs were placed around the room facing the tele and beer was being drunk!!
Must admit I cant remember the game, only the occasion.
I was 6
oh, if you dont like footy but have a penchant for lycra clad men. mmmmm??
Is this the sport where taking drugs is the norm, where every idiot gets his bike out after work and clogs all the roads up cos they have to cycle 2/3 abreast so they can talk to each other or is it so they can get close to the Lycra to smell it, giving no regard to road safety causing endless near misses cos they have the divine right to weedle through traffic jams so they can get to the front, cyclists are a pain on the road, end of rant you misery.Firstly, I'm under 60 and remember 1966 as are loads of us in our 7th decade that are not yet 60, go figure.

I’m not a misery. I’m totally fair. I detest both football AND cyclists. Is this the sport where taking drugs is the norm, where every idiot gets his bike out after work and clogs all the roads up cos they have to cycle 2/3 abreast so they can talk to each other or is it so they can get close to the Lycra to smell it, giving no regard to road safety causing endless near misses cos they have the divine right to weedle through traffic jams so they can get to the front, cyclists are a pain on the road, end of rant you misery.
