Hi All, and more especially W 107 300 SL owners.....

I need to replace the front section of the exhaust on my W107 300 SL , and since it's an expensive item I'm thinking of going the stainless steel route. However I'm not sure that it will sound normal, and would sure hate to make a horses ass of the car, since it's a rather nice blue/black metallic, and rather original looking 1988 car.

Anyone out there with a suppliers name, and the experience of having changed to stainless steel?

I had a stainless steel exhaust on Fiat 20 Valve Turbo it was no more louder but sounder crisper and gave a few extra horses.

its only really the back box (tailpipe) thats makes a difference and usually only noticeable at high revs anyway.

I had the exact same part replaced on my 1987 300SL. I too realised the expense of going OEM - over £600 I think, so had one made by Pwerflow. I think they are a national franchise
It has made the engine noise sweeter, but not any louder. I was also given a lifetime gaurantee. I would thoroughly recommend it, and I intend to replace the rear section in due course.
