Fuel Economy

I am considering buying a used ML270 for a long house hunting trip to France. As I will be covering a lot of miles, fuel economy will be important. Can anyone please advise an expected mpg figure for steady driving on good, traffic free roads

I would think 30 mpg at a steady 80mph on the toll roads, I recently went to Annecy in my ML350 and at 80 - 85 mph with the occasional blast and a full load mine did 25mpg.

I think realistically given its weight , size and the fact its 4wd I doubt you will see much more.

Great cruising car though 80 feels like 40
