The fuel filter is located under the car below the fuel tank you probably have to remove the cover to see the filter hope this helps.

Dear Scotland !

Thanks for you assistance in finding my fuel filter , any ideas on my cold starting ? the engine starts first time but dies after , it takes 4-5 starts to get the car running , idles cold at 1200rpm after the engine is warm it runs ok , have fitted 4 electrode plugs , a lot of owners say these plugs are not good , still get flat spots on acceleration , will a fuel filter change solve the problem ? cars been serviced 150 miles ago and the injectors are clean .

Thanks
Tony.

i had similar problems a few weeks ago, my mechanic replaced the distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs and it now starts first time even
in very cold weather. so worth checking these items.

Thanks for you help willydog , will change the items you advised , have you got 4 electrode plugs or standard ? a lot of guys say the 4 electrode plugs are not good for the 190, s ? i was getting a good 35+ mpg but after a local mechanic adjusted a screw on the injection i only get 18- 20 mpg .
Regards
Tony.

I've got standard bosch plugs. Also I've got new HT leads on mine cos my has done over 100k so worth checking these as well, as faulty leads will cause your engine to misfire.

It might be cheaper just taking the car to a mechanic rather trying to guess what the problem as the some of the parts can be quite expensive.

As for mpg I get around 35-38mpg for long jouneys.

Good luck and I hope you manage to fix the problem
