Anybody got any opinions of fuel injector cleaning additive?
Never used it myself but some people at work have been telling me they use it regularly.
I have a 98 C180 petrol.

Cheers

I only use Forte additives, I think they are very good.
You can only buy it from garages, and ebay of course

Injector Cleaners

I seem to recall that Bosch did not recommend using such stuff but if injectors needed such action to use a specialist process designed for the job and dealt with by a suitably trained technician. As I say this is something I 'recall hearing about' and is not a definitive.

A bit more useless info: - I did have some problems with an Audi 100 which had such treatment and the Dealer called in a specialist to carry out the work. As I recall it did the job and cured the lumpy running and cutting out problem.

I use a £5 can of Wynnes Petrol Injector Cleaner in a full tank every 6000 miles in my 1999 CLK 230K and notice an immediate improvement in smoothness and response. The car is now at 177,000 miles and going strongly. The injectors have never been touched and the MOT emission results at the last test were very close to as new.

As an added bonus the injector cleaner sorts out the fuel tank sensor problem that C and CLK class cars of this era were prone too. I have had the car from new and have found no adverse effects from this treatment, only benefits.

I've used other Wynnes products an on other vehicle like "Engine Stop Leak" and that worked well. I would recommend Wynnes products too.

I agree a shot of Winns fuel injector cleaner every 6k plus of course use a good quality detergent fuel, not supermarket petrol, should keep lumpy running at bay.

My car runs almost exclusively on ASDA fuel and I use the Wynns Injector Cleaner to compensate for the lower detergent content. So far, in 177,000 miles, it has worked a treat!

OK but why? if u register with PetrolPrice.com u can receive a regular update on the cheapest petrol/fuel in your area. I bet if you did this you would find a premium fuel on sale at the same price!

I do 34,000 miles a year, it's more convenient to stick to one, handy outlet which is consistently the cheapest of my local garages than chase after this weeks special offer which could be several miles away.
