Do things like reddex (and other similar agents that you put into the fuel tank) actually do anything beneficial to the fuel system or are they just a gimmick?

I've used them a couple of times, but have not noticed any difference in performance/MPG/smoke/starting/transmission etc.

imho they cause more trouble than they are worth.

there was a guy on here recently who seems to have destroyed his injection pump with just such a product, not sure of his outcome.

the idea is that they clean out non existent residues and unblock injectors that aren't!! if your car is 30yrs old and full of gunk and crud then go for it, otherwise save your money.
