Hello chaps,

The fuel pump on my 190e has started getting a lot noisier recently, I know that they are not the quietest of things on an old merc. But this is getting really loud. How hard are they to change? I am a little worried that it will pack in and strand me somewhere godforsaken!

Take about 15 minutes to do but is a rather dangerous job if you're not careful about petrol spillage.

I'll make sure I have a candle with me so I can see what I'm doing!
I won't light it though. That would be stupid.

It's under a plastic cover on the underside toward the rear of the car alongside the pressure regulator and fuel fillter. Bolts, clamp and two bolt-on electrical connections. Best done on a proper garage ramp though.

Thanks,
I shall have to manage with axle stands sadly. I might as well do the filter as well whilst I'm there I suppose.
I shall pop down to Halfords to get some clamps for the fuel lines.

Mole grips with an appropriate socket on each jaw do the job quite nicely ;)
