Hi all,

My W211 E280 petrol has the increased capacity fuel tank and I was wondering if the fuel gauge and range computer are recalibrated for that? The reason why I ask is that I've driven the car down to a range of only 5 miles remaining and then when I've filled up it's taken 72 litres, leaving a further 8 litres being left in the tank (10%). Is it just that MB like to have a decent amount of contingency built in so that you won't run out of petrol?

Thanks.

They would, IIRC the 280's and 320's all carry the 80 litre tank, as opposed to the 65litre one in the 4 clydiner cars.

I've driven a 65litre car 50 miles on 0 miles showing, it did run out on the 50th mile and an 80litre tanked car 60 miles with the 0 miles showing.

It's just my opinion, haven't check it, but I think that sensor is automatically scaled to larger capacity when car is 'coded' to have 80L tank. Zero Offset just increases when max.scale is wider.
