My G55AMG was the best investment ever made. Sold it for what I purchased it for (and it was not cheap) and maintenance was about $2K/yr (for 4 years) on average. 16MPG(US Gallon) and looked great. Alas, my 55 year old bones could no longer handle the long highway drives out here in California roads, and the noise of the AMG was a little too much for me...otherwise by far one of the best benzes i owned. Very reliable, very safe...be sure to invest in your trusted local independent mechanic for maintenance and some minor tweaks as needed.
