Well after alot of research and speaking to different people regarding the best tuning option of the s 320 cdi i've finally took the plunge and ordered an gcl st3 tuning unit today.Spoke to gary who was very helpful and explained to me how the unit works and i felt reassured that this is a good product, gary told me that within the new software the gearbox is also catered for so as not to overload it with to much torque.Im going for a performance map and economy map as well as the unit holds three maps in total one being the origional in case of wanting to return to standard, although i dont think i will be doing ha,ha.Anyway i should get the unit by friday so as soon as the software is loaded to the car and i get the chance to try it out i'll let you all know what i think.:)

Just to let you know i got my st3 from Gcl yesterday and today i received the two remap files i'd asked for one being a performance map and the other an economy map. This evening the st3 unit was connected to the car and the performance map uploaded to the car with no problems at all. Then i enbarked on a 60 mile drive to let the new software settle in,all i can say is the car has been totally transformed the in gear pull is unreal it pulls and pulls and is like having a bigger engine, even at low revs you can tell the difference from before. My opinion so far is a good one and money well spent i think,i haven't tryed the economy map yet but will do so in the near future. The staff at Gcl have been very helpful and given lots of information on this product and i would recommend their services to anyone thinking of going down the same route as myself.Am i happy oh yes.:D

Hi Gary,

Glad to hear you are happy with the ST3! Ive also had a GCL Remap which I am too very happy with. With mine I found that it got stronger and stronger, however I did mainly want economy so as soon as I stopped having a play with the extra power I gained a lot more MPG! Im averaging around 8-9 MPG extra which Im very pleased about. Im considering about maybe upgrading to the ST3 to give me a bit more flexibility, Im really happy with my current remap but the ability to have two remaps in one just seems too tempting! Is the ST3 easy to use?

Clive

SLK32 AMG
Pitalls

Hi,
I have ben reading this post with interest and am considering it on my SLK32 AMG.

After going to there website the gains are not so good only 15bhp, would you notice the difference from 349 to 364 bhp, I like the idea of the economy remap when i'm just pottering around.

My concerns are the long term effects if any on the engne and gearbox when extra bhp and torch is available and no doubt used.

My engine is powerful prior to any remap but that little extra is always nice to have and a reasonable price, after all tesco's and asda are always saying a little exta helps.

If anyone knows of any pitfall having this kind of mod done would apreciate any coments, as i dont wan't to be forking out for a engine or tranny rebuild.

Thanks

Johno i don't think you have anything to worry about with your engine and gearbox my car has gained another 45bhp and so long as its not thrashed which it is not and never will be i wont have a problem either, the idea for me was to have the extra power on demand if needed the s class being a heavy car its certainly not slow to start with but its nice to have more power on tap .To be honest i don't think you will notice the extra power with your car but you may find its smoother and the way the power is delivered may be better, with regard toGcl tuning i would highly recommend them they have been great to deal with.

Hi,

As a very happy GCL Tuning customer i would like to know what you guys (SR performance) offer over GCL and why anyone would benifit from your service.

As far as i can see you look quite new the the remapping trade (domain name held for under 4 months)

1 your are a dealer so you dont write your own software.

2 the software you provide cant be taylord

3 no warranty (evo chips just cover the software) so if anything happens to my car im left to foot the bill.

4 no approval

5 no rolling road

if this is incorrect please correct me

Hi johno,
A remap on yours only gains 12bhp/15nm torque.
just sharpens throttle response and gives it a little more pull at lower rpm.

steve

i looked on your site and my car isnt even listed, im afraid!

true! ive just checked again, Clive, and they can help if you have a cdi, but not if you have a turbodiesel! if im ever in a position to afford to get mine done, GCL are the most likely candidates ive seen on the forums to get the job!
