Gearbox fault

I have just purchased a 2003 vaneo 1.6 ambiente tip auto, The problem with it is when I put it into drive and put my foot on the accelorator it hardly moves, it is really slow and has no power, there are no lights on dashboard sorry there is a problem but couldnt drive it back as felt it was unsafe to do so, has anybody any ideas what is wrong with it? In reverse its fine and the engine revs if in neutral, any help would be appreciated before i get it towed back and to a garage, thanks

The first step is to have a short test done, there is so many things which can cause these faults, other wise your spending money without knowing,

Well, its not right, so you have a fault there, the common cause is a conductor plate!!
