Does anyone understand the G&S website / part number?

How do you know which is OE and which is alternative? Is there a simple way to work it out (specifically brake pads/disks)

Don't know what way gsf list ther parts either euro car parts list oe. I guess the easy way to tell is by cost
The More expensive being oe or maybe they don?t do oe parts.

if you look on the online shop page of the g/s website and click on the stocking policy or the abbreviations tab, this will tell u about the quality of parts including oe etc

I thought Euro Car Parts only listed OEM prices as a comparison and only supplied OEM parts which are manufactured by other companies. I bought a headlight lens from ECP for my C class, which because it was the sport model had to be the original Bosch part.

Brake parts on most Mercs (older) are ATE, which ECP and probably G&S supply.

I purchased an exhaust downpipe for an '89 190E from GSF - they don't list an OEM spec for this item. The downpipe I bought had been made by Bosal and cost around £65. IT WAS A TOTAL PIG TO FIT! The alignment at the manifold end was out. Got it on eventually and the system is gastight and sounds healthy. Bought the kit myself because I didn't trust a 'fast fit' outlet to provide a decent quality item. The weight of the Bosal, by the way, appeared to be about the same as the original MB system that came off, so maybe the quality is OK..........But this OEM tag which is used by the independent parts sector needs to be treated with caution. Better to ask for the name of the manufacturer - eg. Ernst seem to be about the best alternative to MB for exhaust kit - - if you can get it!
