Folks, I’m considering changing my car to the GLB, mainly because of the 7 seat option. However I wanted a 4 wheel drive PHEV and was wondering if the engine option might be released in the GLB in the upcoming months. What do you feel?

Hi Rel and welcome to the forum. :) I think the GLB is the right choice, Against the GLA and the GLC it looks sensibly priced and of course with the GLA there is no 7 seat option anyway. As for an PHEV I don't think there are any plans as far as I know but in the current environment who knows ??

@AJD @grayb thank you for the response and advice. I guess I’ll wait for a few months and see if there is a hybrid engine option launched. Cheers and thanks once again.

Hi Rel. Mercedes now do plug-in hybrids for all their smaller cars like GLA, CLA, A, B, C and GLC so I imagine a GLB will follow shortly.

@Srdl thank you. Hopefully we see a petrol PHEV with at least the 8G gearbox instead of the current 7G gearbox on the GLB petrol. Best would be a 4Matic, would then be a no brainer if priced right. Intend to hold back on my purchase for 3 months and see what’s available.
The other option would have been the GLC but I find that it’s only available in a diesel hybrid and doesn’t have 7 seats.

Not sure but you might find the PHEV batteries will mean losing the 6th and 7th seats like in the Outlander ?

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
I hope not too - but sadly it's often the way. Those batteries are a decent size for a PHEV, and it's the logical place to put em....
