Hi all, the glow plug light on dashboard comes on when key is turned and goes out after 2 seconds, i start the engine and the light comes on for 40 seconds then goes out, every thing is running normally till the next shutdown and restart and the same thing happens.
This all started when i change the engine oil and filter. Any ideas on this one? regards Harry

I'm sure a decent code reader would identify the specific failed glow plug, but if you check the resistance valve of each of the plugs you'll find one with a different value from the rest. Or .... change them all. Be very careful though as they very easily snap!!!

As above better to soak the glow plug at the base (with plus gas or similar easing fluid) and leave for a day or so before attempting to remove with a warm engine

hi, it was the glow plug relay at fault. £72.00 fitted it in about 20 mins.
That is unusual buddy , the gp light doesn’t stay on after start to indicate a failed relay . Oh well , as long as it’s fixed now

Might be that W212 throws a light for the relay and a faulty glow plug

depends on the car I think. on my w220 earlier this year the GP light came on as normal, went out, after the starting the car it would come on and stay on, it was GP 6, all changed.
