Good afternoon! new to this site so wanted to say a big hello!

Looking forward to general help and tips, also looking forward to helping others.

I have one question about a problem i have at present below if anyone could help point me in the right direction for help.

So my problem is with the Parking Brake (foot pedal) it has failed on me
I pressed the pedal like normal to apply the parking break, i hurd a loud thud and sounded to me like something snapped, now the parking brake pedal feels ever so slack and i needed to pull it up with my foot to release it, upon re pressing it basically i can hear the clicks but the car is not able to be held by the parking break, seems to me like the cable has perhaps snapped, or a spring has gone? any advice would be appreciated.
