Hi to you all out there. What the hell is this government really really about ?
VED out of the roof and a rather quickly shrinking used car market for larger vehicles registered before 23rd March 2006.

The insane thinking behind the £0 for putting certain hybrid and electric vehicles on the roads coupled with no real infrastructure for dealing with them has caught up with them and we are paying YET AGAIN for the braindead thinking of our government.

This government has made such a pigs ear of managing are economy that they are even resorting to infighting amongst themselves - GOD help the Labour party if they get in at the next general election and for that matter it will fall back on us - THE MOTORING CASH COWS.

My post above is what comes to my mind when someone mentions “South Central” it’s part of the intro to “Straight outta Compton” a gangster rap song by those perfectly well adjusted and police loving “NWA”

FYI,
road tax is charged on all vehicles at differing rates, that are not zero emissions including electric hybrids.
The only vehicles that are currently VED free are BEV’s and certain alternative fuel vehicles up to certain minimal emissions levels, but let’s not get into the whole manufacturing process carbon footprint emissions thing.

Further to the earlier conversation, I believe that £0 VED on plug in hybrid vehicles was withdrawn, as lots Companies purchased hybrids for company car drivers, to gain BIK advantages, however, vehicles were only run on their ICE & never plugged in.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions… best (and only) reason for a plug in hybrid is to cut BIK. Neighbour had a C300h - he could reverse it off the drive on battery… after that the ICE would kick in as that’s as far as the battery would take it.
He used to get much worse fuel economy than my E220d as I wasn’t carrying a battery and associate carp around…

The UK just ain't ready for a plague of duracells. (lack of charge points and incapable grid. Ice and duracells is the only half decent option as theoretically u will alway get home and can charge ur own battery. I thought i8 was a grand compromise, but wow!! At what price.
